Memory, History & Archaeology

ANTH 488V Proposed Course
Jamie Brandon

This course will explore the connections between history, archaeology and cultural memory. We will be examining the way we represent and remember the past--what is remembered and what is forgotten and how archaeology fits into all of this. We'll explore the concepts of cultural memory, public memory and collective memory and look at some attempts to "re-member" on archaeological sites through public archaeology.
